Position Title: Site Handyperson – Residential Construction

Reports To: Site Superintendent

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Location: Calgary/Airdrie and surrounding areas.

The Site Handyperson is an integral part of the Genesis Builder's team. The successful candidate will have an established track record in construction site work with focus on meeting safety standards and ability to coordinate and work well with other trades persons, and flexible with taking on tasks, learning, and growing as part of a team.

Role Responsibilities:

· Prepare house for the next trade as required including covering floors, scraping and sweeping floors.

· On a daily basis, collect and dispose of debris at construction site, placing it in appropriate designated places, while ensuring compliance with waste recycling programs.

· General site cleanup as required.

· Make sure houses are graded and safe for the exterior trades by ensuring houses are free of debris.

· Advise Assistant Supervisor when to contact garbage company for delivery and exchange bins for interior cleaning.

· Ensure availability of temporary heat for inside trades (tile setters, tapers etc.)

· Review, assess and report any issues on safety to Health & Safety Rep. or direct supervisor, including ensuring protective gear used/worn.

· Address any complaints or inquiries forwarded by homeowners.

· Snow removal as required.

· Unlock and lock up at the beginning/end of every day.

Competencies and Skills Required:

· High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

· 1-2 Years of construction site handyperson experience or similar.

· Valid Class 5 Driver's License, and a reliable vehicle, preferably a truck.

· Basic knowledge of hand tools, and how to use them.

· Basic understanding and execution of light construction duties.

· Ability to lift lbs.

· Work in all weather conditions.

· Ability to spot concerns and communicate to team.

· Self-starter, proven time management skills, good attention to detail and problem solving skills, always results driven and have a passion to take ownership and own results.

· Ability to work independently and within a team and is willing to learn.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of other languages considered an asset.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all business and employment issues.

Working Conditions:

· This position works regular business hours Monday - Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm in Calgary/Airdrie and surrounding area.

· Regular travel to construction sites across the city is required.

· Capacity to work irregular hours when operational and business requirements indicate.
