The House Manager will work collaboratively as part of the YWCA Children's Housing Extended Leadership Team reporting to the Directors and Senior Director of the Department. House Managers work directly with front line staff and are responsible to lead and coach a team of 40 on floor Support Team Members to provide a safe and nurturing home for children aged 0-12 on a 24-hour basis. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and actions towards Truth and Reconciliation are key aspects of this role. Often, children in these homes have experienced trauma in unsafe and unhealthy situations, House Managers have the responsibility to create an environment which promotes safety, wrap around supports, trust and respect by cultivating healthy relationships and implementing therapeutic programming. And to bring a trauma informed approach and in a culturally appropriate environment.

Responsibilities:

Duties

Managers will work with Child Support Team Members to ensure necessary information is reported to facilitate proper case planning and processes.

· Assist in scheduling Support Worker shifts as needed

· Review and follow up on documentation of incidents

· Ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of daily shift documentation and overview

· Keeping an accurate logbook of activities

· Monthly extra billing and expenditure reporting

Program Implementation

House Managers guide Child Support Team Members to ensure effective implementation of the programming to make the children's stay as positive as possible.

· Ensure nurturing care and safety of the children

· Oversee and participate in the planning and implementation of structured activities for children

· Supervise during all daily activities, including meals, bedtimes, etc.

· De-escalate situations and mediate during conflicts with children and Support Workers

· Respond to the emotional needs of children in crisis & Support Workers in need of self-care

· Follow a case plan for each child and document daily interactions

· Ensure a safe and secure environment by following policies and procedures; and,

· Provide transportation as needed.

House Maintenance

Managers are expected to ensure the home runs efficiently.

· Maintain a high standard of Quality-of-Care including health and safety procedures; report damages and required repairs

Engagement with Indigenous Communities and Culture

All YWCA Regina Team Members are expected to work towards developing familiarity with Indigenous cultural traditions and an engagement with Indigenous people and communities.

· indicate a respect for and commitment to preserve the child/youth's cultural heritage

· agree to help the child/youth maintain and/or establish meaningful family, community and cultural connections through a range of experiential learning opportunities

· enhanced family and community contact or placement goals, as identified by the child/youth

· agree to protect the diverse needs, interests and cultural backgrounds of the child/youth in their care

· acknowledge that nurturing a healthy sense of identity requires collaborative planning to ensure children and youth are supported to achieve their goals

Team Building

Overseeing and mentoring team member

· Working a flex schedule to build quality relationships with the day, evening and overnight Teams

· On call for emergency purposes once every six weeks for all locations

· Attend scheduled Team and Extended Leadership meetings

Completing other related duties as requested and required

Qualifications:

· A working knowledge of both administrative and program needs. A solid knowledge of family residential agency operations is essential.

· Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and practice, as well as evidence of extensive engagement with and commitment to Indigenous community

· Knowledge of the child welfare system, trauma informed care, and family violence, as well as training in Mandt /Gentle Teaching

· Two or more years of experience, with proven team building, and leadership skills

· Extensive knowledge of case-management and case-planning practices

· Understanding of developmental stages and needs of children, as well as knowledge in the fields of human behavior and counselling theories

· Ability to institute practices of cultural safety for women and children of culturally diverse backgrounds

· Valid Saskatchewan driver's license

· Valid First Aid/CPR certification.

· Criminal record check

· A degree or certificate in a related field would be an asset
