HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Dietitian is a specialist in nutrition as it relates to diabetes in adults and is responsible for the nutrition education and care of clients and their families. Working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the dietitian will provide nutrition education, counseling, and interventions as appropriate to outpatient diabetes clients, chronic kidney disease patients, and other health care professionals.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Current Certificate in Diabetes Education (CDE) preferred or commitment to obtain certificate in the next 2 years required.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a health care team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition as related to patients living with diabetes.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage fluctuating workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients, families, physicians, and health centre staff.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative and good judgement when performing duties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Possess a passion for diabetes and renal care and will champion the ongoing development of this chronic disease management initiative in our community.
  • Excellent assessment, planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles of adult learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate both individual and group educational sessions using the principles of education.
  • Flexibility to meet individual client demands.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued education.
  • Possess a passion for diabetes care and will champion the ongoing development of this chronic disease management initiative in our community.
  • Two years' clinical experience in management of diabetes preferred.
  • Two years' experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Experience using Insulin Pumps from a variety of vendors preferred.
  • Experience working with Epic electronic health record preferred
