Overview
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Production Technician – Blending & Packaging is responsible for carrying out blending and packaging operations while ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols. The role includes weighing raw materials, blending ingredients per Batch Records, operating encapsulation machines, bottle filling, labeling, and packaging machines, and performing other assigned duties to maintain smooth manufacturing operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Blending Operations:
- Weigh and measure raw materials according to the Batch Records and verify their accuracy before use.
- Stage and prepare dispensed materials for efficient blending operations.
- Ensure raw materials conform to specified quantities as per the work order.
- Add or mix ingredients into the designated blending machines, following manufacturing directions.
- Monitor the blending process to ensure proper mixing and report any abnormalities to the supervisor.
- Collect and submit blended product samples for quality control testing.
- Record operational and production data on specified forms.
- Unload blended mixtures into appropriate containers or drums, ensuring proper labeling with product name, lot number, and weight.
- Maintain a clean and contamination-free work environment by cleaning and sanitizing blending machines, tools, and containers.
Packaging & Equipment Operation:
- Assist in running bottle filling, encapsulation, labeling, and packaging machines.
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of finished products per regulatory and company standards.
- Transfer blended products and packaged goods between work areas using material handling equipment.
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy when operating packaging machinery to meet production targets.
General Responsibilities:
- Follow all GMP, SOP, and safety guidelines to ensure the production of high-quality products.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Accurately complete all required production paperwork and documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent contamination and ensure safety.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Hand, Supervisor, Manager, or Director.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or blending environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of GMP and SOPs is an advantage.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, climbing, and repetitive motions.
- Basic proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) to comply with verbal and written directions, policies, and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Demonstrated ability to keep up in a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to powder dust, noise, and equipment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- Requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
