Heavy Equipment Operation is critical in the construction and maintenance of underground infrastructure and utilities. Operators must ensure that all operations are in compliance with safety regulations and project specifications._ Their role demands attention to detail, collaboration, leadership, excellent communication and a willingness to work as a team to ensure successful outcomes. _

General:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and rollers in accordance with safety practices and procedures.
  • Perform daily pre-use inspections and maintenance checks on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs
  • Follow proper start-up and shutdown procedures
  • Collaborate with ground personnel and other operators to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings and complete role specific training.
  • Assist in site preparation, including clearing, excavation, grading, and backfilling as per project needs.

Technical abilities:

  • Operate with precision, efficiency, and safety.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on equipment.
  • Blind spot and spatial awareness.
  • Understand load stability and limitations of machine.
  • Understand site layout, grading plans, and excavation requirements.
  • Work around utilities (buried & overhead)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.00-$42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 50 per week

  • Lower Mainland, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
