The OpportunityWe have a contract position available in the Toronto office for a Business Insights Consultant. In this position, the candidate will be providing objective, fact-based consulting to our Leadership Team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Digital Marketing and Technology departments, collaboratively providing recommendations on our business optimization and digital value evolution. The candidate is also responsible to build reporting solutions to help the regional and the field team understand what drives our business' current performance and help inform strategy of what will drive performance in the future. This position is an excellent match for someone with strong analytical skills and communication/presentation aptitude.
Our Business Insights team is dedicated to uncover and articulate meaningful insights that inspire great advertising, great food and award-winning promotional programs. We strive to improve the guest experience with the goal of redefining McDonald's brand perception. Sometimes we adapt methodology from our global markets, but just as often or more, we need to design our own solutions. We are on a journey to become one of the strongest, most dynamic business insights teams in Canada as well as in the McDonald's system.

You are an objective and fact-based individual, with keen attention to detail. You are analytical by nature and able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment to support internal and external parties. You work effectively in a fast paced, agile, and sometimes high-pressure environment. If you like to explore, invent and inspire – we need someone who wants to find and develop better, sharper, more innovative ways to solve business problems.
In addition to following McDonald's policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Business Updates:
- Partnering with digital marketing team to qualify and enhance offer strategies and tactics. Outputting business cases for campaign execution.
- Model impact on projections that feed into larger overall McDonald's phase planning.
- Provide regular updates and analysis on digital platform performance, including customer trends, sales/financial impacts and growth of platform.
- Support quantifying marketing program performance including program sales/financial impacts and customer behaviour changes.
- Collaborate with larger team to consolidate inputs to feed into monthly results.
Reporting
- Collaborating with partner company's business insights and technology teams to understand data feed and available metrics.
- Execute regular digital performance reporting and data feeds.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to gather requirements to understand the needs of the business.
- Design, develop, and test new reporting solutions or enhancements to existing reports.
- Create and launch new reports that provide insights into key performance indicators.
- Set up automated workflows to minimize manual reporting requests.
- Work experience: Five to seven years' experience in data analytics position in a marketing, business or research.
- Education: An undergraduate degree with a business or data analytics focus; Data Science, MBA, recognized accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or related Masters' degree would be an asset
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, data analysis and reporting
- Experience in digital platform management and strategy
- Experienced and capable in working in face paced, agile, and sometimes high-pressure environment
- Strong communication and presentation delivery skills and drive for success
- Strong customer focus, with experience in consumer research and/or history of partnering with Consumer Insights departments to infuse consumer perspective
- MS Office proficiency (specifically Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, Tableau, Alteryx. Working knowledge on modeling techniques is an asset.
- Dedicated self-starter who can work independently to provide timely support for weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting.
The expected salary range for this role is $76,799 - $102,398 per year
