Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off

Scope: 

Part 1

  • Setup Alimak, ground floor setup
  • Drive 80m long raise, 90°, 2.4m diameter round
  • Breakthrough on the top side of the raise
  • Strip out Alimak

Part 2

  • Setup top down Alimak
  • Slash raise on the way down to 5.5m diameter bin
  • Install cable bolts while advancing

Part 3

  • Shotcrete bin
  • Strip Alimak setup

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Alimak (Mechanized) Raise Miner is to construct and maintain underground raise installations, performing various tasks such as constructing mechanized raise set ups, scaling loose rock, drilling, All work is to be completed following best practices set out in the Redpath Mechanized Raising Guidelines Manual. 

Responsibilities
  • Operate Mechanized Raise Climber 
  • Construct and maintain underground installations as face advances 
  • Perform tasks such as constructing MRC installations, scaling loose rock, drilling, installing MRC rails, installing services as required
  • Read and interpret mine plans 
  • Install ground support
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 2 years or more experience with conventional mining methods and hand held drills
  • 6 months as a Mechanized Raise Miner

Specific requirements (preferred)

  • Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
    • Required Specialty Modules: U0064 (or other provincial equivalent)

Knowledge Required 

  • Ability to multi task and work effectively 
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with a partner and be a team player
  • Recommended to complete the MRC training program
  • Respectful of cultural differences
