As the Operations Manager for the province of Ontario, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and optimizing daily operations to ensure the achievement of organizational goals, while rigorously managing allocated budgets and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Reporting directly to the Canadian Director of Operations, you will play a strategic role in leading teams, managing material, financial, and human resources, developing sales, and driving continuous improvement in operational processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company's goals.
- Establish and oversee occupational health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment, in compliance with provincial laws and regulations.
- Maintain strong relationships with partners, suppliers, and clients at the local and regional levels.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks related to health and safety.
- Train and raise awareness among employees and managers on best practices in prevention and safety.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate their efforts to maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure optimal management of human, financial, and material resources, while closely monitoring budgets.
- Develop, manage, and optimize operational budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and unnecessary costs are reduced.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective measures to improve financial and operational results.
- Contribute to the development of financial forecasts and budget reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain strong relationships with partners, suppliers, and clients at the local and regional levels.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- College diploma in operations management or a relevant field.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of significant experience in a similar role related to mining and/or the explosives industry.
- Strong expertise in occupational health and safety (OHS) and quality management.
- Ability to develop and execute strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English, to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to understand complex environments and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Well-developed organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities effectively.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and team mobilization skills in a dynamic environment.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Knowledge of explosives products and legislation related to the transportation of hazardous materials (asset).
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
