The Operational Stress Injury [OSI] Clinic is part of a larger network of clinics across Canada and is designed to provide specialized mental health service to eligible Veterans, members of the Canadian Forces, and eligible members of the RCMP, who are encountering ongoing difficulties as a result of service-related psychological injury and traumatic events. St. Joseph's Operational Stress Injury Clinic is responsible for service provision across a geographic region including Southwestern Ontario, the Greater Toronto Area and portions of Central Ontario. These services are provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing and Social Work.

St. Joseph's OSI Clinic currently has staff working out of London as well as Toronto, and Hamilton. While this position is based in London, the successful applicant will provide research and program evaluation services to staff at all sites. This may occasionally involve travel between sites.

As a member of this interdisciplinary team, the Researcher will work with team members to provide program and team support in the collection, analysis, reporting, and utilization of data and information to support program evaluation and research initiatives. Work will include the creation/evaluation of data collection tools, monitoring of clinic data in a variety of systems, support of local clinical data systems, analysis of research and evaluation findings, collation, review and critical appraisal of key journal articles and other forms of academic literature, preparation of academic publications and research ethics submissions, and the development, completion, and dissemination of presentations and monthly and quarterly reports.

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Masters in Epidemiology, Program Evaluation, or other health related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years research related experience including grant writing, proposal development, data analysis, and data management
  • Demonstrated advanced computer knowledge in Microsoft Office, particularly with Word, Excel.
  • Experience with using a statistical analysis tool e.g. SPSS, Stata, R and demonstrated proficiency in analyzing data.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with presentation software including PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Extensive knowledge of research design principles (both qualitative and quantitative)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and techniques
  • Ability to manage clinical data across a variety of platforms
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing competing deadlines and priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization skills along with an attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • One year working with interdisciplinary research team
  • Familiarity with common mental health tools (e.g. PSCL-5, GAD-7, PHQ-9) and the use of mental health scores in measurement-based care.
  • Demonstrated understanding of VAC, Military and RCMP culture
  • Experience with trauma research
  • Experience with FileMaker Database System would be beneficial.

Immunization Requirements
