Get started on an exciting career at Element
Element employees make a difference in the lives of others every day. We are re-defining the fleet management industry to be people first, then business – delivering on our promise of a superior client experience. This takes hard work and innovation, and we need more like-minded people on our team.
About The Role
We're looking for a trusted advisor to clients to join our team as Fleet Manager. In this role, you will work directly with client stakeholders and field managers to manage all aspects of the vehicle fleet program, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory compliance, and best industry practices. This includes overseeing vehicle acquisition, maintenance, remarketing, and vendor performance, while also identifying cost savings and operational efficiencies.
What You'll Do
Client Partnership & Leadership
- Lead the full lifecycle of fleet operations—from acquisition through remarketing—ensuring alignment with business goals, compliance, and industry best practices.
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders to support strategic planning, policy development, and long-term fleet success.
- Partner with Element teams (Client Success, Strategic Advisory Services, and Commercial) to deliver insights and strategies that reduce total cost of ownership and liability.
- Act as the escalation point, resolving complex issues with a solutions-driven approach.
- Analyze fleet data to identify risks, opportunities, and improvements in cost, safety, sustainability, and compliance.
- Advise clients on emerging trends, including EV adoption and regulatory changes, and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Communicate results and recommendations through reports, presentations, and business reviews.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day fleet operations—including ordering, budget, licensing, driver communication, and compliance—by coordinating with Element service teams and third-party partners.
- Ensure accurate reporting and decision-making by maintaining inventory records across systems.
- Draft communications to drivers and managers, reinforcing program updates, policies, and best practices.
- Support driver onboarding and change initiatives such as policy rollouts, supplier transitions, or safety campaigns.
Team Collaboration & Mentoring
- Partner with Element Account Managers to align strategies and ensure client satisfaction.
- Mentor Associate Fleet Managers, building their knowledge and confidence in client service and operations.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members by sharing best practices and guidance.
- Contribute feedback and ideas to strengthen the Outsourced Fleet Manager program's tools, processes, and service model.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field. Or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered. Graduate-level coursework or an advanced degree is an asset.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in client account management, fleet operations, or B2B service delivery, preferably within a complex service or logistics environment.
- Demonstrated success in managing client relationships within a consultative, service-focused model.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and support others in a collaborative, team-based environment - without direct performance management responsibilities.
- Proficient in using data and performance metrics to identify operational improvements, monitor program health, and deliver measurable client value. CAFM (Certified Automotive Fleet Manager) certification is required or must be obtained within months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate-level coursework or an advanced degree is an asset.
- Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft Excel, and fleet management systems is strongly preferred.
- Bilingualism in French is an asset.
- Candidates with current CAFS or CAFM designation are strongly preferred.
Location:
Canada Remote, with the requirement to be based near our offices in Mississauga or Toronto, ON. Occasional in-office presence may be required.
The hiring base salary range for this position is $76,300 - $104,900 annually.
