MAINTENANCE WORKER

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Operations manager this is an essential role within Haliburton Forest because of the vast array of buildings, facilities and infrastructure that require continuous maintenance, upkeep, and improvement. Working within the Forest Experiences team alongside other maintenance and trail workers duties involve carrying out maintenance to buildings, structures and infrastructure undertaking construction projects when necessary, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for clients.

The maintenance worker incumbent is a multi-skilled quick learner with a background and interest in facilities maintenance and construction projects. The ability to work efficiently between multiple projects in a variety of situations is essential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work within the Forest Experiences team on all maintenance and construction projects
  • Carry out all aspects of building and facilities repair & maintenance implementing cost reduction measures
  • Plumbing, electrical & heating repairs
  • Furniture and appliance installations
  • Carry out building renovations and upgrades
  • Address work orders as assigned
  • Seek economical and efficiency solutions wherever possible
  • Conduct seasonal shut down and start-up of selected buildings
  • Liaise with Forest Experience managers on all property related maintenance and projects, maintenance schedules and servicing
  • Prepare estimates and projects costings
  • Carry out seasonal landscaping tasks
  • Ensure safe operation of machinery and tools by self and other staff members
  • Ensure maintenance & servicing of tools and equipment
  • Responsible for upholding Health and safety
  • Always uphold a high standard of customer communication
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Work with trails crew to maintain recreational trails when required
  • Research & suggest sustainable and low environmental impact alternatives
  • Pump gas and propane if required
  • Contribute to the general advancement and operations of the Forest Experiences division

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Construction and/or facilities maintenance experience
  • Knowledge and experience of plumbing, electrical and carpentry
  • Experience in using lawn mowers, chainsaws & line trimmers
  • Knowledge of small engine maintenance & repairs
  • Experience in safe operation of power tools
  • Experience in safe operation of ATVs & Snowmobiles
  • Full G Drivers licence
  • Work at height for construction certification an asset
  • Team player
  • Flexible & adaptable attitude to work tasks
  • Physically fit
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Adaptable outlook
  • Flexible to work overtime as required – some evenings/extended hours may be required
