About Us

The Village Idiot Bar & Grill is looking for a Head Chef to lead our team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of food quality, presentation, and safety
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities. Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest of quality, and are presented to company standards
  • Plan new menu items that complement our existing menu of signature burgers and pizzas
  • Work alongside support staff to ensure recipes are kept updated and correct
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and minimize waste while maintain cost controls
  • Lead, train, and inspire a team of sous-chefs, cooks and kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and ensure the kitchen operates in compliance with local food safety standards

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a chef, with at least 2 years in a leadership role in a high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, with a focus on burgers, pizzas, and contemporary cuisine.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of managing and developing a successful kitchen team.
  • Creativity: Ability to innovate and develop unique menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with staff and management.
  • Education: Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
