THOAR Mining provides a wide variety of services in the support and operation of mining, ranging from project management, supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and mining equipment operation.
We have an immediate need a highly motivated, safety-conscious Journeyperson Welder/Millwright/Iron Worker at Vanscoy, SK potash mine site. These positions are for a Mine Shutdown at a Mine site specifically in the Mine Shaft.
1 month duration- nights, with the possibility of extension.
If you are a Journeyperson Welder, Millwright or Iron Worker that has experience in Loading Pockets, Shaft maintenance or UG Hoists with a commitment to safety, quality, diversity and inclusion, and teamwork, we want to hear from you
Responsibilities:
- Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, designs, and welding process specifications
- Examine welds to ensure they meet industry standards
- Working knowledge of welding processes including GMAW, SMAW, MCAW, FCAW
- Proactively seeks and accomplishes tasks that lead to a safe, efficient, and productive work environment
- Follow instructions precisely with the ability to carry out daily work instructions in a timely and efficient manner with limited supervision
- Perform individual tasks and work effectively as part of the team to ensure productivity and efficiency
- Finding creative solutions and effective problem solving of issues that arise
- Communication and cohesive alignment with other departments in the mine
- Work safely and collaboratively as part of a crew
- Good verbal and written communication
- Computer experience required for record keeping and documentation
- Commitment to safe work practices and achieved an excellent safety record
Qualifications:
- CWB Certification or JM Red Seal Certification
- Shaft and Underground experience an asset
- Fall Arrest and Confined Space Training
- Valid First AID
- Valid WHMIS and SCOT are considered an asset
- Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- GMSA required
