In this role, you'll oversee all fitness class programming across our clubs—driving innovation, quality, and member engagement. Working closely with our General Managers, you'll build and motivate a high-performing instructor team that delivers exceptional, high-energy classes every time.
You'll be the force behind our members' motivation and retention—bringing our culture and values to life through world-class programming and leadership excellence.
Manager of Group Fitness reports to the Vice President (VP), and oversees all fitness class offerings of Fitness World. The Manager of Group Fitness builds and maintains an engaged and high performing fitness class team, and ensures a best in class fitness class experience for our members. The Manager of Group Fitness is also responsible for the achievement of member retention and satisfaction; execution of company policies, procedures and programs; and exemplifying the company's culture and values.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of our above club leadership team to support the achievement of company goals and objectives, specifically: employee, member and revenue.
- Create and implement fitness class policies, procedures and programs to drive the achievement of company goals and objectives, and align with best practices and employment regulations.
- Oversee the recruitment, screening and hiring of the fitness class team; ensure onboarding is completed in a timely manner; and payroll is accurate in the member management system.
- Provide leadership to the fitness class team, including coaching, feedback and performance management; and observing and participating in fitness class.
- Ensure the fitness class team adheres to company policies, procedures and programs, including health and safety, member management, human resources, payroll, etc. via feedback from the GM.
- Facilitate various learning and development programs and workshops, specific to group class formats and programs, and member engagement.
- Create the quarterly fitness class schedule(s) via feedback from the GM and work with the member management software to analyze and track fitness class attendance.
- Conduct competitor, industry and market analysis, and provide findings to the VP to ensure our fitness class and programming are competitive and current.
- Drive the fitness class team to achieve a high level of member participation in fitness class by attracting new members, member retention and satisfaction.
- Ensure, via feedback from the GM, fitness class rooms are clean and well maintained, including equipment, floors and walls; address cleanliness and health and safety concerns; and immediately report incidents to Human Resources.
- Evaluate, via feedback from the GM, the effectiveness of fitness class, formats and programming, update and rollout to the fitness class team as required and ensure these are adhered to by the fitness class team.
- May be required to instruct a number of fitness class per week, inclusive of annual salary, and occasionally sub for the fitness class team.
- Support other departments and functional areas of the company, for example club member service representatives, fitness class, marketing, etc.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
