JOB SUMMARY

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for using laundering machines to clean articles such as rags, towels, and bedding. Sorts, folds and stores clean articles.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sort all linen and separates and treats all stains.
  • Load articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agents.
  • Lift clean, wet articles from washer and places them into dryers for measured time cycles.
  • Sort dried articles according to type.
  • Fold and place items in appropriate locations for storage.
  • Maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies and linen; informs the Supervisor of any inventory needs.
  • Maintain all laundry equipment and informs appropriate personnel of maintenance needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATION

  • Minimum of one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of training and experiencepreferred.
  • Possess current WHMIS certificate or willingness to obtain.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, appropriately interpret and follow policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to meet the demands of the work schedule, to be at work and on time. May occasionally require the ability to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. Schedules may vary based on business need.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended period of time.
