Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Engineer to help evolve CoverRight's data and AI ecosystem. You will be responsible for building reliable data pipelines, transforming datasets, and supporting AI model development within GCP. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and AI teams to ensure data flows efficiently across our platform.
This role also requires experience with Java, Kotlin, and working with relational databases, ensuring seamless integration between our core applications and the data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines that transform raw data into clean, actionable datasets for business and AI teams.Manage data infrastructure using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and Postgres.Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data pipelines with core services written in Java and Kotlin.Support AI development, including model training, deployment, and monitoring inside the GCP ecosystem.Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.Maintain data quality, security, and compliance across systems.Contribute to the design and scalability of the overall data and AI infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience 3+ years as a Data Engineer or similar role working with large-scale data systems.Strong experience with GCP tools including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataflow (or equivalent).Proficiency with Postgres and other relational databases.Solid programming skills in Java and Kotlin, with experience integrating backend services with data platforms.Strong SQL and Python skills for data processing and automation.Experience building reliable ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., using dbt, Airflow, or similar tools).Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines, including model training and deployment in cloud environments.Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with AI agents or conversational AI tools.Familiarity with Vertex AI, BigQuery ML, or other cloud AI services.Exposure to regulated industries like health tech or insurance.Experience with data visualization platforms (Looker, Tableau, etc.)Startup or high-growth tech environment experience.
Location This role can be done remotely from the U.S. or Canada.Strong preference for candidates who are based in one of our key hubs: Brooklyn, Buffalo, or TorontoOur team operates on Eastern Time (EST), so availability during core business hours is important
