Responsible for leading the development, negotiation, and governance process of international partnership agreements. Provides recommendations on potential and renewal of (international) partnerships to Faculty leadership. Develops and maintains meaningful business relationships with international partners in order to align with the Faculty of Medicine strategic mandate and the University's objectives on internationalization and global health. Collaborates with the Senior Manager and Vice Dean in areas of strategic alignment and operational efficiency.
Leads the planning, organization, and execution of assigned programs. Translates strategies into comprehensive program plans and deliverables to meet objectives while ensuring service excellence. Fosters collaboration among program staff and establishes efficient processes and procedures that optimize resources contributing to the overall success of academic, research and/or special services offered by the University of Ottawa
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Planning: Identify and develop strategic international markets to increase international student enrolment, research collaborations, educational programs, and global health activities. Identify revenue generating business opportunities such as customized programs and learning activities. Prepare recommendations to Senior Manager and Faculty leadership on how best to actualize said opportunities. Represents IGHO leadership during partnership negotiations.
- Human Resources Management: Supervises operations staff within the portfolio to ensure alignment with overall office objectives. Manages the recruitment, professional development and performance evaluation of employees that report to the incumbent and resolves any workplace conflicts.
- Operations Management: Oversees operational activities related to partnership agreements, focusing on coordinating cross-department and faculty initiatives and programs. Acts as a management liaison with other services whose contribution is a key input to program success, as well as to ensure effective communication and collaboration on areas of common interest. Manages activities associated with the special projects within the overall program.
- Budget and finances: Manages budgets within the assigned program portfolio. Oversees payment disbursements related to special projects and student and faculty mobility, ensuring compliance to financial processes.
- Analytics: Provide policy and business analysis and recommendations to Faculty leadership on international program trends to guide appropriate institutional internationalization strategy. Create presentations, briefing notes, and reports on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine leadership. Create internal business analysis reports on partnerships and global trends within the Faculty and from around the world.
- International Partnerships: Maintain relationships with new and existing partners, as well as foreign embassies and consulates, Canadian embassies, Canadian and foreign universities, and international sponsoring or regulatory agencies.Governance: Ensure effective governance of all international partnerships in alignment with university bylaws, academic regulations, and policies. This includes adhering to agreement signing processes, and the creation and implementation of revenue sharing and study code agreements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Oversee the maintenance of the international database of all Faculty international and global health activities to inform business decisions and annual reports. Guide staff conducting the annual data collection and data entry. Create and analyze international agreements (contracts), ensuring adherence to University policies.
What you will bring:
Essential Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in international relations or other relevant field.
- At least 5 years related experience in business and partnership development, international education, marketing, or other related experiences.
Other Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a role with supervisory responsibility.
- Demonstrated success and strong business development skills, preferably in the international education industry, with proven ability to innovate and create long term relationships.
- Understanding of nature and needs of post-secondary institutions around the world and public sectors as well as NGO's.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with various clients and team members.
- Motivated and driven to finding and developing new opportunities and business relationships.
- Abilities in creating viable budget scenarios and financial planning.
- Proactive, autonomous and able to work with limited supervision.
- Proficient computer skills are required, including information management
- Ability to research and synthesize information, and create reports and presentation to a regional and/or international audience
- Ability and willingness to travel in Canada and abroad as well as work outside of regular business hours or on weekends.
- Be comfortable to participate into networking activities, luncheons and public relations events.
- Bilingualism essential in French and English (advanced level - spoken and written).
