Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Range Hood / Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Technician to join our rapidly growing GreenKlen team. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning, pressure washing, or related mechanical/maintenance work. This role involves cleaning commercial range hoods, ducts, and exhaust fans to NFPA 96 standards using specialized equipment.

You will be responsible for ensuring kitchens remain safe, compliant, and free from grease-related fire hazards. This position requires physical stamina, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or with a partner during after-hours commercial kitchen shutdowns.

Experience in hood cleaning is required—we will train the right candidate.

(However, related trade or commercial cleaning experience is an asset.)

Duties

• Clean commercial range hoods, filters, ducts, and exhaust fans to NFPA 96 standards
• Set up and operate cleaning equipment: pressure washers, chemical sprayers, scrape tools, ladders, etc.
• Apply degreasers, scrape heavy grease, and ensure all surfaces are properly rinsed and polished
• Install/modify plastic containment to protect kitchen equipment
• Safely remove and reinstall hood filters and access panels
• Complete roof fan cleaning (must be comfortable with heights and ladders)
• Take before-and-after photos of all work for compliance
• Fill out cleaning reports and note any deficiencies (fan belts, bearings, access issues, etc.)
• Follow all safety protocols around chemicals, ladders, and rooftop environments
• Maintain equipment and keep company vehicles/supplies organized
• Ensure work meets company quality standards and customer expectations

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen exhaust cleaning, pressure washing, power washing, roofing, mechanical work, or commercial cleaning is highly desirable
• WHMIS 2015 training is Required
• Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and in tight spaces
• Physically fit—able to lift 40–60 lbs, bend, scrape, rinse, and work long shifts
• Must be able to work evenings, overnights, and some weekends (when restaurants are closed)
• Good communication skills; able to follow instructions and complete job reports
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential
