Reporting to the Logistics and Customs Compliance Manager, the Logistics and Compliance Specialist ensures adherence to HPS Customs policies and procedures at North American locations, offering support for supply chain tasks and projects, preparing legally binding international export/import documentation, participating in customs/intercompany logistics audits, and providing logistics/customs support and information to HPS personnel.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Logistics and freight management support, including obtaining specialized packaging and freight quotes for international shipments
- Monitor complex shipments to reduce risk of audit/customs compliance issues to HPS
- Provides support and verification for inquiries form Capital Traffic for Mexico consolidated trucks from Canada
- Trade compliance which includes preparing International Shipment Paperwork & ensures compliance to requirements of originating and destination country to avoid penalties, fines etc. (i.e. CERS, Chamber of Commerce, Free Trade Agreements)
- Sets up and maintains standard record keeping practices for Freight and Logistics related documents
- Stays aware of logistics/customs/trade compliance globally
- Populates HS Tariff Code via Commodity Code for all HPS Product
- Monitor system for incorrect/stopped/reservation issues SO's/PO's/TO's
- Plans and completes projects as assigned
Do you qualify? We are seeking:
- A completed diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in logistics coordination and freight management including:
- Experience with customs compliance and international trade documentation.
- Experience working with carriers, brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX) and logistics software.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, import/export compliance, and trade agreements (e.g., NAFTA/USMCA).
- Proven ability to prepare and review legally binding documentation (CERS, Certificates of Origin, HS Tariff Codes).
- Familiarity with LTL freight, international shipping, and audit processes.
- Experience working with hard good is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel, any experience with Power BI is an asset.
- Understanding of logistics KPIs, cost tracking, and rebate programs.
- Excellent problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
