Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanic Helper to join our team. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in automotive and heavy equipment repair, supporting our skilled mechanics in maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced mechanics with diagnosing and repairing various types of vehicles and equipment, including heavy machinery, farm equipment, and industrial systems.
- Support in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Aid in the disassembly, assembly, and replacement of parts such as transmissions, brakes, shocks & struts, suspensions, hydraulics, and HVAC systems.
- Help with fabricating parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, or other fabrication techniques.
- Operate or assist with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.
- Read schematics and technical manuals to assist in troubleshooting issues related to electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, alignments, and vehicle diagnostics.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as tire service, vehicle inspections, fluid changes, and general upkeep of equipment.
- Support safety protocols by maintaining a clean work environment and adhering to safety procedures during all repair activities.
Requirements
- Prior experience or familiarity with dealership service environments is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to automotive repair, heavy equipment operation, hydraulics, transmissions, air brakes, HVAC systems, diesel engines, welding, and electrical systems.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting regularly.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various repair environments.
- Valid driver's license preferred; relevant certifications such as ASE or CDL are advantageous but not required.
