About the Opportunity

If you've ever wanted to start your own polymer or materials startup in the Greater Toronto Area but weren't sure where to begin, this could be the chance.

I'm building an early-stage venture,

). The website is still a work in progress, but the focus is to deliver innovative and advanced polymer solutions to plastics and the polymer industry through:

  • Custom polymer formulations & specialty product development
  • Developing innovative products and technologies that support the plastics sector and a sustainable future
  • Providing R&D support and advanced material testing through a network of university research labs

I'm looking for a
PhD graduate with a strong background in product development and polymer science
(Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar) to join as a
co-founder/partner
. This is an equity-based role (not salaried), but there are significant opportunities for grants and other funding. The vision is to build Zyhecta into a leading innovation partner for the plastics and polymer industry, developing solutions that support a sustainable future.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, hardworking, with a builder's attitude, self-motivated, resilient, and proactive; someone who takes initiative and drives projects forward without needing direction.
  • Industry experience or prior startup experience is a big plus
  • Based in the GTA (or willing to collaborate closely with the Toronto/Hamilton ecosystem)

About the Current Founder

I hold a PhD in Chemical/Polymer Engineering with 10+ years of industrial experience in the polymer and materials sector. I'm ready to build Zyhecta into a company that connects science with real industrial needs and develops innovative products and technologies for a sustainable future.
