This role is ideal for a driven commercial professional who excels at building strong customer relationships, developing meaningful opportunities, and translating complex environmental solutions into practical commercial arrangements.
Job Summary
The
Vice President, Business Development
will lead Responsible Energy's commercial development efforts, engaging industrial, municipal, and private-sector organizations to advance opportunities related to PFAS, AFFF concentrate, and hazardous-liquid destruction. The successful candidate will guide prospective customers through the full commercial cycle, including scoping, qualification, demonstrations, and structuring commercial agreements.
This position requires a relationship-focused, execution-oriented leader who is comfortable navigating complex customer environments and contributing to Responsible Energy's broader commercial readiness as the company begins its transition into full operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with Responsible Energy's commercial objectives and operational capabilities across Canada and the United States.
- Identify organizations with active PFAS, AFFF concentrate, or hazardous-liquid management needs and establish trust-based relationships with customer and partner decision-makers.
- Lead customers through opportunity qualification, technical scoping, commercial discussions, proposal development, and negotiation of service agreements.
- Support customer participation in witnessed facility demonstrations, pilot engagements, and on-site visits at Responsible Energy's Maitland Facility.
- Prepare clear, well-structured commercial proposals and customer-facing materials that communicate Responsible Energy's FRG capabilities and commercial readiness.
- Maintain an organized commercial pipeline, including timely updates on opportunity progression, customer timelines, and engagement status.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Finance, and Legal to ensure proposed engagements are feasible, compliant, and aligned with internal capacity and readiness.
- Monitor PFAS regulatory developments, competitive technologies, and market trends across Canada and the United States and provide insights that support Responsible Energy's commercial and strategic planning.
- Represent Responsible Energy professionally and support continuous improvement of customer-facing processes and materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive business development experience within: a) Environmental services, b) Hazardous-waste management, c) Industrial or municipal technical sales, d) Defense or federal contracting environments, or e) Clean technologies or engineering services.
- Demonstrated experience advancing multi-stakeholder commercial opportunities in regulated or technically complex sectors.
- Strong negotiation capabilities with proven relationship-building skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical solutions into clear commercial value propositions.
- Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and disciplined follow-through.
- Ability to operate independently, manage multiple engagements, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel within Canada and the United States as required.
