Job Summary
The Planning, Real Estate and Economic Development (PRED) department is responsible for the planning and delivery of growth activities for the City of Ottawa, including long range land use planning, the City's long-term transportation plan, the prioritization of transportation investments, development approvals, management and long-term strategies for the City's real estate portfolio, delivering on major city-building projects, and identifying opportunities to foster economic prosperity.
You undertake, or participate in, a variety of assigned professional planning services or projects, including research, analysis and preparation of technical reports in the unit's area of expertise (e.g. Research and Forecasting, Development Review, Community Planning, Urban Design, Heritage Services).
Education And Experience
Completion of a 4-year university degree in urban and regional planning, or a field related to planning or the unit's area of expertise (such as landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, urban geography, engineering, environmental planning)
Minimum of 1 year of related and progressively responsible, professional experience in the unit's area of expertise
*CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES*
RPP OR P.Eng. OR Licensed Architect OR Landscape Architect (Full Member) OR P.Geo. OR Certified Environmental Professional or able to obtain license in the timeframe set by the employer

- Applicable legislation, policies and practices (for example, Planning Act, Municipal Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Ontario Heritage Act, Building Code Act, Environmental Protection Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Conservation Authorities Act, City Official Plan and Master Plans, Development Approvals process, Environmental Management Systems)
- Global, national and local initiatives, agreements and agencies related to environmental management (Federation of Canadian Municipalities, International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, International Standards Organization, etc.)
- Municipal planning principles and practices
- Public consultation practices
- Project management principles and practices
- Available computer technology and tools
