Job Summary
Mood Disorders Society of Canada is seeking an experienced Veteran Programs Coordinator, who is either a CAF or RCMP Veteran or Veteran Family Member to work as part of a small team. The goal of the Veteran programs is to provide high quality service and support to this community promptly. This program is currently funded until March 31, 2026 with the possibility of extension.
Under the direction of the MDSC Director (or designate), the Veteran Program Coordinator is responsible for meeting all criteria, carrying to completion the work assigned, and shall coordinate all the various tasks to ensure the successful achievement of overall project goals.
This position is REMOTE, however, (national) travel may be required to attend meetings, wellness conferences or tradeshows as needed.
Responsibilities
The Veteran Program Coordinator primary role will be responsible to assist the MDSC organization with the key Veteran projects that provide service and support to Veterans and Veteran Family Members. Responsibilities include:
- Understanding the MDSC Veteran Program offerings
- Registers Veterans and Veteran Family Members into the Veteran and Family Member Tracking System
- Communicates with the Veteran and Veteran Family Member confirmed registration
- Responds to service requests via email, utilizing templates
- Coordinates the Companionship Calls process with Companionship Callers and Registered Callees
- Communicates with Partners on program registrations and cancellations
- Professionally represents MDSC at all times
- Ability to work with basic technology such as Google Forms, XLS and Outlook email or be willing to learn it
- Able to proficiently use technology for training purposes
- Attends weekly check-point meetings (or more frequently), provides updates and communicates challenges and opportunities
- As a member of the MDSC team, participates in the MDSC Volunteer training program
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The incumbent will be comfortable recommending and establishing work processes, but will also be adaptable to work within a collaborative and dynamic environment.
- CAF Veteran or RCMP Veteran, or a Veteran Family Member;
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, and/or business field, or equivalent experience;
- Specific experience in client services and/or outreach;
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of volunteers;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to speak, read/write;
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office 365 Suite;
- Ability to work comfortably in both a grassroots movement and in a bureaucratic setting;
- Proven ability to develop and maintain productive networks;
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently;
- Experience working in a virtual environment;
- Understanding French is an asset;
- The successful candidate must be willing to have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC);
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $65,000.00 per year
