About the role
The Corporate Communications team leads Intact Financial Corporation's internal and external communications in support of IFC's business objectives and strategic roadmap. This includes:
- Supporting and amplifying the common elements that bring us together, define our unique culture and drive outperformance.
- Enhancing employee engagement across IFC – emphasizing what makes us a winning team.
- Protecting and promoting the IFC brand and reputation globally.
- Elevating IFC's role in helping to build resilient communities where we do business.
- Amplifying IFC's knowledge, expertise and thought leadership in our key markets.
The Director, Internal Communications, leads the strategic internal, HR and National Real Estate comms team members and portfolios and is a member of IFC's Corporate Communications leadership team, reporting to the Vice President of Communications. In this role, you will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive internal communications strategies that enhance employee engagement, promote our employee promise, and connect the dots with IFC's purpose, values, objectives and strategy. You will oversee the Internal Communications team's planning and execution of creative and effective communication tactics, set and track success metrics, and collaborate with colleagues and partners across the business, our brands and global markets, while supporting cross-functional communications initiatives.
What you'll do here:
- Developing and executing on comprehensive internal communications strategies that enhance employee engagement, promote our employee promise, build up employee pride, and connect the dots with IFC's purpose, values, objectives and strategy.
- Overseeing the Internal Comms team's planning and delivery of annual strategic employee communications plans and our intranet editorial calendar, ensuring content is of the highest quality and that tactics are creative, effective, and appropriate for the intended audiences and channels.
- Setting clear outcomes, KPIs and other success metrics for all projects, and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of internal communications efforts, providing regular feedback and recommendations for improvement to team members and senior leadership.
- Staying informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in communications and provide recommendations based on findings and learning which will enhance the effectiveness of internal communications strategies and improve the overall employee experience.
- Working and collaborating with comms colleagues across Corporate Communications and the business, our brands and global markets to drive collaboration, align communication efforts, and maximize impact.
- iBEstablishing strong relationships with HR and National Real Estate to understand their business needs, collaborate, effectively plan, develop and execute strategies and tactics that support their strategic priorities.
- Establishing and maintaining credibility with the IFC senior management team and leaders across the business and markets, while providing support for IFC-wide/cross-functional communications initiatives as needed, including issues management.
- Building a network of partners across IFC to help deepen your knowledge of our business in order to unearth stories and drive relatable and insights-driven content that strategically tells the IFC story to our employees.
- Providing executive communications support and leading strategic communications efforts for the Chief People Officer.
- Building up and fostering an environment of high performance and success, with a strong focus on managing priorities and top-notch execution.
- Managing department resources and associated budgets.
- Ensuring project plans and materials are socialized and have received appropriate approvals.

- Demonstrates expertise at prioritization and project management and continuously supports their team to focus on the things that matter.
- Expertly navigates our matrixed environment and builds strong, collaborative working relationships with communications colleagues across Corp Comms, our business and markets, as well as with business partners, leaders and other stakeholders across IFC.
- Established as a trusted advisor known for their expertise and storytelling capabilities.

What you bring to the table :
- Bachelor's degree in communications/mass media/public relations, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience working in communications.
- Minimum 5 years experience in people management.
- Exceptional strategic thinking skills combined with an action orientation.
- Stellar written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and multitask in an environment with multiple deadlines and competing demands.
Ability to manage an extensive network of stakeholders.
Strong commitment to talent management and development.
- No Canadian work experience required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
