Detail driven, proactive and experts at effective time management, our Production Planners keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, playing a key role in making sure our operations stay on track and our customers get exactly what they need, on time, every time.
In this temporary 8month opportunity you will report into our Area Manger, Specialty Paper and will work with our production, technical services, sales & marketing and logistics teams, and will be the central hub for production planning and scheduling activities in the Mill. You will work hand-in-hand with many different stakeholder groups making sure every paper order is fulfilled accurately, on time and to the highest standard.
You will balance the big picture with the details, matching production to customer demand, minimizing disruptions, and finding smart ways to optimize costs. It's a role where communication, organization, and problem-solving come together to make a real impact.
A day in the life of a Production Planner, Paper:
- Ensures accurate and effective use of Mill Manufacturing System tools— Running Lists, and Backlog Reports—while coordinating orders seamlessly through the manufacturing process.
- Liaising with the paper mill operational departments to ensure order requirements are met
- Maintain, adjust and communicate daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly paper schedules that are aligned with Operational and Sales requirements
- Communicates order changes, rush grades, paper overages or shortages as they arise
- Advises Sales team on the oversold or undersold position of the production schedule
- Ensure customer order information is correctly entered into the Elixir system for production and shipping execution
- Regularly review available stock, both on site and at external warehouses, and applies to upcoming customer orders when able
- Monitor and maintain efforts to achieve Trim Efficiency target. Collaborate and provide potential solutions when off target
- Review monthly production plans forecasted by each mill to ensure consistency with historical capabilities and supply chain expectations
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales & Marketing and Operations on production forecasting
- Maintain accuracy of SPP Production Schedule posted on the internal & external Canfor websites
- Planning and creating loads for all paper orders to ensure efficient and timely shipment
- Expedite customer orders
- Coordinate production to accommodate irregular paper movements/storage in the event of Transportation challenges
- Support the preparation of various documents, reports and tracking KPI's
- Support continual improvement, forecast accuracy and on-time shipments
- Support quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives
- Supports the Mill Manufacturing System (Elixir)
- Provide coverage for the Transportation & Warehouse Specialist as required
- Participate in annual inventory audits

The salary range for this position is: $70,000.00-$100,000.00
