About the Role: 

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in reducing the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) across all stages of manufacturing. Your responsibilities will span: 

  • Supporting supplier quality and performance. 
  • Improving internal production processes. 
  • Amplifying the voice of the customer on the factory floor. 
  • ​​​​​​​Leveraging our ISO 9000-compliant Quality Management System to ensure sustainable improvements. 

You'll work closely with suppliers, support production teams in delivering "right the first time" quality and engage directly with customers to address quality-related concerns. This role requires leading quality initiatives aligned with strategic objectives, establishing and implementing quality standards, and promoting audit readiness and compliance through active engagement. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the resolution of client concerns related to product & service quality, identifying root causes and implementing and sustaining corrective measures. 
  • Conduct on-site quality audits and inspections to assess process compliance with internal and industry standards. 
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, characterize opportunities to reduce cost of poor quality (CoPQ), and validate effectiveness of implemented countermeasures.  
  • Facilitate communication between clients and internal teams, ensuring a clear awareness of concerns. 
  • Lead cross-functional teams in both root cause corrective action and preventive action to resolve key internal & external quality issues.  
  • Participate in the strengthening of quality standards, processes, and literacy of a our product quality performance. 
  • Collaborate with suppliers to monitor and improve the incoming material. 
  • Train stakeholders on quality mindset, methods, tools, processes, and systems and maintain related objective evidence. 
  • ​​​​​​​Stay abreast of industry trends, standards, methods, tools, and regulations related to quality improvement and the electrical transformer industry. 

What You Bring to the Role: 

  • A degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience in a high volume, high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering - experience in the distribution transformer industry or related electrical equipment is considered an asset.  
  • A proven track record for creating & deploying objective standards for product conformity, collaborating multi-functionally on both corrective and preventive actions to ensure operations have stable, capable processes with which to consistently satisfy internal & external client requirements. 
  • A demonstrated track record in the effective application of quality management system processes, and Lean Six Sigma models & tools. 
  • Strong emotional intelligence, communication, team building, and analytical problem-solving skills  
  • Familiarity with a Microsoft 365 ecosystem. 
  • Experience in direct client interactions, conducting field quality assessments, and implementing corrective action. 
  • Experience with formal production and quality management systems is preferred.  
  • Experience with CSA, IEEE, ANSI and IEC transformer standards is considered an asset. 
  • Applied knowledge of SPC, MSA, QFD, DOE, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, etc. is expected.  Preference for candidates with a P.Eng. designation & ASQ certifications. 
  • Availability to travel to client sites across North America as a requirement.
