Commercial Loans Officer Trainee

The LO Trainee program is set up for candidates committed to their education and career development with a personal or professional background in the commercial field. If you are interested in a career in finance within the Credit Union system and have experience owning, operating or managing a business, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for. Successful candidates will complete placements at various Sunrise locations to understand the diversity of our commercial clients and lending services. The average length of the program is approximately two years, allowing candidates to develop a strong understanding of lending fundamentals as they work towards achieving the knowledge of a commercial LO III.

Basic Function:

Once completed the Commercial LO Trainee program the candidate, should be able to successfully provide loan and mortgage products to business owners to fund their operation and other financial requirements. As a commercial lender, you will develop relationships with existing and prospective members, process and review applications, and ensure accurate documentation for credit decisions. Under general supervision, they will be responsible for all credit granting functions within the consumer loans, personal mortgage and small business and agricultural area including interviewing members, assessing credit worthiness and underwriting loans within limits and/or recommending or declining loans based on loan risk. Analyzes financial statements, operating cycles, profit levels, cash flow projections and other factors or variables that affect loan viability and risk. Promote, up sell and cross sell the full range of credit union products with emphasis on small business and agricultural lending products, credit card products, lines of credit and sundry services.

Responsibilities:

Sunrise Credit Union prides itself on its relationships with existing and prospective members. As a Commercial Lender, you will work directly with members to provide advice and financing solutions and proactively develop new relationships to grow the number of portfolios through new acquisitions. We understand that each members' needs are different. We rely on our Commercial Lenders to combine their business knowledge with an in-depth understanding of each member's current financial position to provide innovative and workable alternatives to help members with their ongoing financial needs at an acceptable level of risk. You will work collaboratively with other departments and staff to analyze credit information and prepare credit analysis and authorize, renew or decline member requests within Sunrise Credit Union policies and authorized limits. You will proactively promote Sunrise Credit Union's image within the business community through participation in community initiatives and events.

• Minimum grade 12 education.  
• Preference will be given to those with Post Secondary Education and candidates with a proven track record in credit union/financial institution environment.
