Job Description Summary: The Payroll Analyst is a critical member of the North American (NAM) Payroll team, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a  designated employee population, including ALC,  and all CIE USA entities. This role involves comprehensive payroll processing, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and providing excellent customer service to employees. The Payroll Analyst will work closely with the Payroll Supervisor to ensure efficient payroll operations and contribute to continuous process improvements.

End-to-End Payroll Processing:

  • Process all payroll runs, including ALC, Healthcare, Alizent, E&C and all CIE USA entities (12), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Prepare and process Records of Employment (ROEs) for Canadian employees.

  • Calculate and process settlement payments.

  • Manage the monthly pensioner payroll run.

  • Process Payroll inputs for both Canadian and US payrolls.

Data Management and Integrity:

  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including personal information, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.

  • Verify and validate payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Perform regular audits of payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

  • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws, wage and hour requirements, and garnishments.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll policies and procedures.

  • Process and remit Garnishments and Family responsibility payments.

  • Process WCB NS remittances.

  • Process Tax remittances for Canada.

Employee Support and Communication:

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, providing accurate and timely information via the payroll mailboxes (US and Canada).

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee concerns in a professional and efficient manner.

  • Communicate payroll-related information to employees in a clear and concise manner.

Payroll System and Process Improvement:

  • Utilize and maintain payroll systems (e.g., Workday) and related software.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of more efficient payroll procedures.

  • Assist with system testing and implementations as needed.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Generate and distribute accurate payroll reports, including payroll summaries, tax reports, and journal reports.

  • Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and documentation.

  • Assist in month end and year end payroll processing.

Support:

  • Provide support to team members and other departments regarding payroll related questions.

  • Handle other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in payroll processing.  

  • Strong understanding of payroll principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including Canadian payroll regulations.

  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.  

  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems is a plus.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
