Embryology Assistant
Department: Embryology
Reports To: Lab Director
Location: Vancouver Clinic
Work Schedule: 4-day on, 4-day off rotating schedule; 37.5 hours per week.
Overview:
Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose, and Commitment of Olive Fertility Centre:
This is a position for an Embryology Assistant to perform support and administrative duties at the embryology laboratory at Olive Fertility Centre.
Key Areas of Involvement Include:
- Daily Quality Control: perform morning QC in the lab at 7:30am, and report any deviations for corrective action.
- Patient Chart review and chart preparation.
- Maintenance of progress notes.
- Sample labelling and identification.
- Dish & embryo identification.
- Media preparation and QC.
- Data entry.
- Selection of embryos to thaw.
- Fert check and embryo grading support.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
- Medical Office Assistant certificate or diploma, or equivalent.
- Previous medical office experience or laboratory administration experience.
- Previous embryology assistant experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in an environment subject to changing deadlines, stress, and focus in a busy environment.
- Ability to discuss intimate medical topics in a professional, compassionate manner.
- Professional, friendly demeanour.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals.
- Ability to quickly adapt to varying needs of organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Calm, pleasant demeanour with strong telephone skills: pleasant tone and receptive voice.
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English.
