QA Engineer (remote, Canada)

Remote - Canada | Permanent / Full Time

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist with experience in the financial services industry to ensure software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

This is a permanent, full-time position. The role is fully remote, and candidates can be located anywhere in Canada.

Responsibilities:

Define and enforce QA standards for new applications, products, and enhancements.

Analyze business requirements and user stories to determine testability and scope.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry quality standards.

Design testing methodologies and oversee test execution.

Identify and report defects, bugs, and system issues.

Develop and manage test plans, scripts, and cases for tracking defects and fixes.

Assess the feasibility and benefits of test automation.

Collaborate with development teams on testing strategies, including regression and performance testing.

Provide clear documentation of test scenarios, results, and defect tracking.

Communicate test progress and insights to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in functional and exploratory testing.

2+ years of test automation experience.

Industry experience in the financial services industry (mandatory).

Strong Agile testing background with experience in short-cycle product releases.

Hands-on experience testing complex financial products and workflows.

Expertise in failure triage, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning.

Ability to assess the feasibility and value of test automation.

Experience with TDD and BDD environments.

Proficiency with JIRA, test management, and scripting tools.

Hands-on experience with Cypress or similar web automation testing tools (Selenium, Playwright, Katalon)

Strong documentation skills for test cases and defect tracking.

Excellent communication, time management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
