Hamilton Health Sciences is looking for a dynamic, experienced and independent individual to join the Research Contracts department as a Research Contracts Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Research Contracts. the Research Contracts Specialist reviews, negotiates and finalizes a diverse portfolio of clinical research contracts for HHS research studies with third parties. The Research Contracts Specialist will liaise with scientists, physicians, industry sponsors, privacy, finance and compliance and offers an opportunity to work at one of Canada's largest academic hospitals. This position requires a thorough understanding of the life-cycle of clinical research within an academic hospital framework, as well as knowledge of the policies, guidelines and laws that govern clinical research in Canada. 

1. University degree required in law and/or business administration. Graduate degree or MBA preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years experience in contract management and relevant law. Recent related experience in an academic research and/or University research environment preferred.
3. Previous experience in project management, understanding, interpreting and writing policies and procedures.
4. Risk assessment experience in the medical or science industry.
5. Ability to draft and finalize legally binding research agreements (that address financial and academic considerations and policy and procedures) for final executive approval.
6. Ability to prioritize, communicate, write, edit, research, analyze, facilitate, negotiate, problem solve, and apply judgment when making decisions.
7. Ability to interpret, clarify evaluate and articulate legal clauses and associated risks.
8. Ability to examine and review detail without losing sight of the overall objectives of the parties involved.
9. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently as well as with a team, ability to work in a high volume area.
10. Demonstrated skill in negotiating, and ability to exercise tact, empathy and sincerity in high-stakes situations.
