Job Summary
Natus Neuro is seeking an experienced System Test Specialist (Infrastructure) to ensure the quality and reliability of our current product portfolio and next‑generation medical devices. You will plan, execute, and report end‑to‑end verification for multi‑device systems while administering an isolated test‑lab environment that mirrors customer deployments (Windows Server/Client, networking, virtualization, and cloud connectivity). You will collaborate closely with software, hardware, product security, and other engineering teams to verify requirements and document results across multiple product lines. This role helps ensure our devices meet applicable regulatory standards and deliver exceptional value to healthcare providers and patients.
Core Responsibilities
System Verification
- Develop and refine risk‑based test protocols from software/system requirements; maintain traceability from requirements to test results
- Perform manual and automated verification of systems for patient data collection, monitoring, analysis, and review
- Test APIs and web applications for functionality, reliability, and security‑relevant behaviors; create reproducible bug reports with logs, traces, and captures
Test‑Lab & Infrastructure Operations (isolated, non‑production)
- Administer and maintain the isolated test environment (Active Directory/DNS/DHCP, Windows Server/Client, Citrix, VMware, storage, and hybrid Azure resources)
- Configure multi‑device setups, Windows networking, cloud connectivity, certificate management, web APIs, and portals
- Harden lab images and gold templates; maintain patching cadence and version matrices for reproducible testing
Reporting & Quality Records
- Create detailed verification logs and reports (setup, configuration, deviations, and results) to meet regulatory and QMS requirements
- Identify, document, and track defects in JIRA; verify fixes and update regression suites
- Contribute to Technical Investigations of product quality and security issues
Collaboration & Ways of Working
- Serve as the IT subject matter expert for development and verification teams; provide guidance on environment configuration
- Partner with software/firmware to ensure testability of features and third‑party components
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years in system testing and/or IT administration for Windows‑based systems
- Proficiency in Windows networking (advanced configuration and troubleshooting), Wireshark/packet analysis, and PowerShell scripting
- Strong knowledge of DHCP/DNS/Active Directory, Citrix, VMware, storage, and hybrid cloud environments (Azure preferred)
- Experience with issue tracking (JIRA preferred) and test management
- Expertise working with Windows‑ and Android‑based systems; solid understanding of SDLC
- Bachelor's in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent 5+ years of experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- Hands‑on API testing (Postman/Newman, REST tools) and UI automation (e.g., Playwright/Selenium) for regression efficiency
- Proven experience testing cloud‑connected systems (Microsoft Azure)
- Familiarity with Android tablet ecosystems and workflows
- Knowledge of medical device standards and practices (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 81001‑5‑1)
- 2+ years in the medical device industry preferred
- Experience in Agile/Scrum teams
- Familiarity with basic penetration testing techniques or vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., OWASP ZAP, Metasploit, Kali, Nessus, or similar)
- Understanding of secure configuration practices for Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualized environments
- Relevant certifications in IT infrastructure or cybersecurity (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Azure, CompTIA Security+, GIAC GSEC, or equivalent)
Work Model & Location
- Location: Oakville, ON (primary lab) with hybrid flexibility as role allows; onsite presence required for hardware setups and lab maintenance
- Hours: Standard business hours with occasional maintenance windows (off‑hours) for lab upgrades
- Travel: ~0–10% (training, cross‑site collaboration)
