Team & Culture
Our Quality Control team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced technician to join our field team. The successful candidate will have field and lab experience in Heavy Civil Construction and is comfortable testing soil & concrete. As a self-starter, you are comfortable completing tasks on your own but are collaborative and willing to take direction in a team environment. You have exemplary verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable working with data and reporting it in a timely manner.
Due to the remote locations of the sites you are comfortable traveling through rough terrain and have a fitness level to meet the physical demands of the role. The project sites are primarily in the North Western region of B.C. and will require the successful candidate to be willing to work primarily outdoors, in variable weather conditions and be flexible with their rotation. This is a day-rate position and will be based on experience.
Expectations
- Manage the setup and completion of quality control documentation and record keeping.
- Review project drawings and perform field inspections.
- Commitment to proper safe sampling and testing procedures for soil & concrete.
- Ensure test results are documented and communicated to designated individuals including management, consultants, engineers, and others as required.
- Record and report deficiencies and ensure they are corrected on time.
- Work with site management and operations team to fulfill quality program while adapting to the dynamic nature of a Heavy Civil Construction site.
- Complete quality reports & checklists and upload all documents to the company drive with related pictures.
- Update and maintain QC tracker and all other required documents.
- Proficient with analyzing technical reports.
- Ensuring work procedures and specifications are followed.
- Documenting and submitting non-conformance reports.
- Participate in weekly look-ahead meetings.
- Ensuring timely delivery of all samples to the applicable laboratories.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years experience related experience and in comparable environments
- Able to work shifts in remote camp locations
- Comfortable working at height
- Physically fit to meet the demands of the job
- Competence using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Exemplary written and verbal communication
