Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative leader who can balance day-to-day operations and fundraising with long-term planning. The Executive Director role is multi-faceted, requiring a balance of strategic leadership, fundraising expertise and heartfelt advocacy in partnership with the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will bring both vision and pragmatism, guiding the organization to sustainable success and deeper community impact. The Executive Director must be able to adapt to changing environments, and foster a culture of inclusion, transparency and innovation.

Duties

  • Strategic Leadership & Governance - develop, implement and regularly review the organization's strategic plan, goals and objectives. Provide timely and comprehensive reports and recommendations to the Board on organizational activities, financial status, opportunities and risks.
  • Program Management & Service Delivery - oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of programs and services and ensure programs are delivered efficiently, ethically and sustainably, adapting to the needs of the community we serve.
  • Financial Management Resource Development - Manage the organization's finances, including budgeting, accounting, reporting and risk assessment, in accordance with Canadian non-profit accounting standards and CRA requirements. Prepare budgets, forecasts and monthly financial reports for Board approval.
  • Fundraising - identify opportunities and oversee fundraising activities, grant writing, donor relations and revenue generation activities.
  • Human Resources & Team Development - recruit, hire, train, supervise and support staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Community Relations & Advocacy - serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the organization, building relationships with clients, partners, media and government representatives. Advocate for the organization's mission and priorities and increase awareness of our services through public speaking, social media and other outreach tools.
  • Operational Management - oversee day-to-day operations, including office administration, facilities management, information technology and records retention.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. non-profit management, public administration, social sciences) required: Master's degree preferred, or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years progressive leadership experience in the non-profit sector, preferably in British Columbia.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, financial management, board relations and program oversight.
  • Experience managing staff and volunteers in a diverse, values-driven environment.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 21 per week
