he Opportunity
Guardteck Security is seeking an experienced and strategic
Director of Operations
to lead our operational divisions, drive performance excellence, and ensure seamless delivery of services across our security portfolio. This senior leadership role is central to maintaining Guardteck's commitment to quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction. In this role, you will be leading a team and working closely with an account manager and an operations coordinator to lead the operational division for Guardteck in Ontario.
The Director of Operations will oversee multiple operational teams, foster a culture of high performance, and collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational growth and uphold Guardteck's core values.
What You'll Do
:
Operational Leadership & Oversight
- Lead the Static Security and Event Security divisions to ensure exceptional service quality and client satisfaction.
- Oversee Mobile Security operations including patrol services, alarm response, and rapid deployment teams.
- Ensure Scheduling aligns staffing with contractual commitments while managing labor costs.
- Support Recruiting in attracting and retaining top-tier security professionals.
- Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, high-performance culture across operational teams.
- Mentor and develop department managers to strengthen leadership, accountability, and growth.
- Respond to escalated operational issues and emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Resolve escalated employee relations matters in partnership with HR.
- Guide development and rollout of updated SOPs, policies, and operational standards.
- Review and refine policies regularly to improve consistency and operational efficiency.
Client Management
- Serve as the primary escalation point for clients regarding operational issues, ensuring timely, effective, and professional resolution of all concerns.
- Maintain strong, proactive relationships with clients through regular check-ins, site visits, and performance reviews to ensure service delivery exceeds expectations.
- Collaborate with Account Managers and operational teams to ensure client needs are clearly understood and consistently met.
- Monitor and assess client satisfaction trends, identifying opportunities to enhance service quality, responsiveness, and operational support.
- Align client expectations with operational capabilities and contractual obligations, ensuring clarity, transparency, and alignment between service delivery and service agreements.
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve client experience and support long-term retention and growth.
- Support the development and delivery of customized security solutions to address evolving client requirements.
Performance Management
- Develop and implement KPIs to measure quality, efficiency, and profitability.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with operational leaders.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Inspire and motivate teams to uphold Guardteck's core values and operational standards.
Inventory & Asset Tracking
- Oversee effective tracking of all uniforms, duty equipment, and assets across office and field operations.
- Ensure sufficient supply of uniforms and oversee cleaning, recycling, and disposal processes.
- Act as liaison with head office on equipment matters (e.g., computers, printers, workstations).
- Support Account Managers and Supervisors with technology-related needs.
- Oversee procurement of operational equipment within budget guidelines.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with provincial and federal regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee training programs to maintain licensing, certification, and readiness (de-escalation, emergency response, customer service).
- Implement strong safety protocols and incident reporting systems to mitigate risk.
- Conduct compliance audits using LMS and internal systems.
- Perform inspections at all supervised and unsupervised sites to ensure adherence to policies and objectives.
- Oversee field/mobile supervisor spot checks and follow-up actions.
- Review GPS reports and coordinate investigations as required.
- Conduct semi-annual audits of site procedures and systems.
- Prepare monthly quality-control reports.
- Develop training courses in collaboration with relevant staff and instructors.
Financial Accountability
- Review departmental budgets and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Monitor labor costs, overtime, and equipment expenses to maintain profitability.
- Coordinate with Finance on accurate billing and invoicing for mobile and small works services.
- Provide regular operational and financial reports to the leadership team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Security Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in security operations, including 5+ years in senior management.
- Brings an entrepreneurial spirit Very comfortable with velocity of change in a hyper growth organization.
- Proven success overseeing multiple operational divisions (static, events, dispatch, mobile patrols, scheduling, recruiting).
- Strong understanding of security industry regulations, licensing, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to drive performance, develop leaders, and build high-performing teams.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.
- Proficiency with security management systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Clean background check, and valid driver's license with reliable vehicle.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support operational needs.
- Knowledge of labor laws and experience in unionized environments is an asset.
- Certifications such as CPP or PSP are considered an asset.
- Ability to have cadence meetings with clients to ensure service delivery is above and beyond.
