The opportunity:

The Indigenous Cultural Safety Course Coach Lead plays a key role in supporting and guiding the delivery of the We Will Take Good Care of the People training program. This position is responsible for fostering anti-racism, cultural safety, and Indigenous knowledge through facilitation, coaching, and program coordination. The Coach Lead will work directly with participants, lead both virtual and in-person sessions, and help organizations create culturally safe environments by designing and delivering workshops, mentoring facilitators, and applying culturally grounded change management strategies.

In addition to coaching and facilitation, the Coach Lead will oversee the Connect with a Coach initiative, manage facilitator engagement, support accreditation processes, and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the program. The role also includes logistical coordination, data tracking, and promoting the program through professional networks and continuing professional development opportunities. Success in this position requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a deep commitment to equity, learning, and community well-being.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:

• Preference will be given to Indigenous, First Nations, Métis or Inuit candidates. Please self-declare in cover letter.
• Must be trained Indigenous health professionals from the following backgrounds:
• Nursing
• Dentistry
• Rehabilitation Sciences
• Pharmacy
• Physician Assistants
• Medicine
• Allied Health
• 5+ years of directly related experience in leadership experience required
• 3+ years of experience in executive coaching, leadership development, or organizational consulting required
• Certification from a recognized coaching organization is preferred.
• Change Management certification is an asset.
• Experience working in a First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit Healthcare setting is preferred
• Experience in anti-racism and Indigenous health
• Experience facilitating in group settings with multiple levels of staff
• Experience managing budgets, developing and implementing strategic initiatives, including process improvements and program expansions, to align with training and organizational goals.
• Knowledge of university regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program is preferred.
• Knowledge of health system organization regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program is preferred.
• Good understanding of training electronic information systems that are more complex than IE learning management systems or other information systems is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with public engagement and meeting facilitation for a minimum of 5 years in relevant areas.
• Ability to supervise, develop, train, counsel, plan, evaluate, direct and discipline.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and external partners
• Ability to provide advice, develop and present informational materials.
• Demonstrated ability to use MS Word programs at an advanced level for the purpose of statistical tracking and analysis, budgeting and word processing.
• An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills in managing budgets, staff, and meeting operational needs
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and establish work priorities and deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to be culturally safe, communicate effectively with First Nation leadership and community members, various levels of both provincial and federal government, staff and students.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with various partners internal and external are required.
• Must understand, respect, and demonstrate cultural safety with a well-developed sense of and attention to issues requiring discretion, confidentiality and diplomacy.
• Proven experience in recruiting, hiring, and managing staff, including performance and discipline
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adapt, prioritize, and proactively respond to emerging needs.
• Must be able to work independently and in an organized and productive manner.
• Must have ability to take initiative and solve problems.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound independent judgments and utilize problem-solving skills and abilities, within their area of responsibility.
• Shall be able to draft a variety of presentations using presentation software (PowerPoint, Canva, Prezi etc.) for different audiences.
• With training, navigating WaitWell system to run reports, etc.
• A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
