Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking General Laborer to support FTTH construction projects. This role involves primarily service drop work, trenching, machine operation, and fiber optic installation. The ideal candidate is physically fit, safety-conscious, and eager to learn new skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment on-site.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, lifting, and moving supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Support skilled tradespeople with tasks as needed.
- Operate tools and equipment, including:
- Ditch Witch trenchers
- Drills and quick cut saws
- Fiber jetting machines
- Tow-behind compressors
- Basic hand tools
- Assist with trenching and conduit installation.
- Perform service conduit and fiber drop installations for FTTH projects.
- Use fiber optic test equipment for verification and troubleshooting.
- Follow company and industry safety standards at all times.
- Participate in routine inspections to identify potential hazards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be eligible and have legal status to work in Canada.
- Valid G-Class driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- Reliable means of transportation to and from job sites.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to safety procedures and protocols.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment is an asset; willingness to learn is essential.
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in telecommunications, construction, or manual labor is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Flexible to work various start/end times, weekends, holidays, rotation shifts, and overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
