Position Details: Temporary full-time (hybrid) position

35 hours per week starting as soon as possible

Summary:

The Employment Facilitator provides tailored support and resources to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in BC's workforce. Through flexible, hybrid service delivery and strategic partnerships, this role delivers targeted skills training, personalized career coaching, and employment readiness support, enabling participants to secure and sustain meaningful employment opportunities.

How You'll Make a Difference:

  • Contribute to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training curriculum, lesson plans, and program materials.
  • Facilitate in-person and online information sessions on program offerings, conduct individual needs assessments to determine appropriate service streams, and refer clients to Case Managers as needed. Provide additional referrals to MAP, settlement workers, Volunteer Connections, LINC, and other programs to support clients' settlement efforts.
  • Plan and deliver group interventions and information workshops on employment-related topics, ensuring that content aligns with program curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Deliver job readiness, soft skills, and digital literacy training to enhance clients' employability.
  • Organize and facilitate networking sessions to help clients build professional connections.
  • Conduct group orientation sessions covering topics such as labour market trends, the hidden job market, resume services, job search strategies, and community employment resources.
  • Assist clients with resume development and other job search tools to support their employment and funding applications, providing one-on-one support as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the database, ensuring timely completion of program and participant reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you Bring:

Certificate or diploma in vocational counselling, Certificate in Essential Skills, or Job Finding Club facilitation, and a minimum of 6 months' employment counselling experience including facilitation workshops and small groups OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A Career Development Practitioner Certificate is preferred.

  • Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proven career/employment counselling skills; well-versed in Canadian job search strategies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local labour market, especially those related to newcomer clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating groups and workshops.
  • Service-oriented with a demonstrated willingness to help the department and the organization achieve desired objectives and targets.
  • Ability to engage with external stakeholders.
  • Possession of and the ability to maintain a clear BC Criminal Record Check.

ISSofBC Value Proposition

  • Expected Hiring Salary: $22.90 – $25.20 per hour. Dependent on education, training, experience, and internal equity. Wage grids are reviewed annually
