Job DescriptionWe're looking for a Business Development Manager to join our growing team and lead the expansion of our Government Grants practice in Canada. This is a brand-new position, offering the opportunity to shape the role, build a team, and grow into a leadership position.
Your Mission
- Identify and secure government funding opportunities (federal & provincial) for industrial clients.
- Act as a trusted advisor, combining technical and financial expertise to develop proposals, model ROI/TCO, and support clients through the submission and compliance process.
- Stay up-to-date with the policy and funding landscape to anticipate opportunities for clients.
- Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, engaging decision-makers (CFOs, executives), diagnosing client needs, pitching solutions, and closing business.
- Collaborate closely with delivery teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
What You Bring
- 5+ years' experience in government grants, public funding, or consulting, ideally within the industrial sector.
- Proven expertise in federal & provincial funding programs and strong financial skills (ROI/TCO modeling, budgeting).
- Solid experience in executive-level client management, with the ability to build lasting relationships and engage stakeholders up to C-suite.
- Strong consultative and commercial mindset.
- Skilled in grant/proposal development, compliance, project/process management, and CRM tools.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree
- Work Experience: Prior sales experience
- Language: English
- Core competencies:
- Proven track record using a sales methodology to generate business leads, open doors, and manage the sales cycle to contract signature.
- Knowledge of success fee agreements is an asset.
- Highly motivated, results driven, independent thinker, perseverant and strong sense of initiative.
- Strong customer focus, interpersonal and team-oriented skills.
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) coupled with heightened listening skills.
- High level of business integrity and ethics.
