Toronto, Ontario, Canada The Conference Board of Canada Full time $57,000 - $75,000 per year

The Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) is the nation's largest independent applied research organization offering unbiased, evidence-based information and analysis to both industry, NGOs and federal/provincial governments. We have one of the country's largest private economic analysis and forecasting teams and are widely recognized for expert economic forecasting, modeling, and leading analysis. CBoC undertakes research to address the most pressing issues in Innovation and Technology, Human Capital, Sustainability, Immigration, Indigenous and Northern Communities, Education and Skills, and Health.  Our social science research provides actionable pathways to solutions. Simply put, we deliver insights that help Canada's leaders cut through the noise and make informed decisions.

We are seeking a Research Analyst to join the Human Capital team. Please note: This is a research role; not an internal Human Resources role.

Our ideal candidate is… A thoughtful, detail-oriented researcher with a graduate degree in Human Resources, I/O Psychology, or another social-science discipline. Your experience bridges human resources and research; you bring foundational knowledge of HR concepts and metrics, and you have research experience related to areas such as compensation and benefits, workplace wellbeing, HR benchmarking, or learning and development.

You are comfortable developing data collection tools such as surveys, interview guides, and focus group guides. You can analyze qualitative data (NVivo) and quantitative data (SPSS or R), and you're confident facilitating interviews and focus groups to gather rich, nuanced insight. You take pride in being organized, accurate, and thorough. You're comfortable using project management software to keep tasks, timelines, and documentation on track in multi-phase research projects, and you enjoy turning data into clear, concise summaries that support evidence-based insights and practical recommendations.

You work well as part of a team, proactively staying connected in a remote environment, collaborating closely with colleagues, and communicating clearly to ensure work moves forward smoothly.

You are adaptable, reliable, and committed to producing high-quality research. Experience with Power BI (or an interest in learning) is a strong asset, as our research increasingly blends narrative insights with interactive data visualizations.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office in Canada. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role. This includes internet service and a reliable connection.

About the Role
On a typical day, you will:

•    Support several Human Capital research projects at the same time, including work related to workplace health and wellness, compensation and benefits, HR metrics benchmarking, and learning and development.

•    Develop high-quality data collection tools, including surveys, interview guides, focus group guides, and instrument testing protocols.

•    Program surveys in Voxco (or Qualtrics) and support survey testing, logic checks, and data validation.

•    Conduct qualitative research, including interviews and focus groups, and synthesize findings using NVivo.

•    Conduct quantitative analysis using SPSS or R, including cleaning datasets, running descriptive analyses, and generating tables and visualizations.

•    Summarize research findings in clear, well-structured briefing notes, slide decks, and reports.

•    Contribute to literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, and background research on HR-related topics.

•    Use project management software to track tasks, manage timelines, document progress, and support effective workflow coordination.

•    Collaborate closely with senior researchers and contribute to internal project meetings and planning discussions.

•    Support the development and updating of Power BI dashboards.

•    Collaborate closely with senior researchers to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are accurate and client-ready.

•    Participate in internal project discussions and provide updates on data collection, analysis, and progress.

•    Demonstrate CBoC values of collaboration, evidence, excellence, integrity, passion, and ownership.
