About Helio Urban Development

We're a design-build company specializing in small multi-unit developments (4-12 units) optimized for CMHC MLI Select. We build every project ourselves using standardized, modular designs—same floor plans, same heating loads, same simple residential HVAC systems.

We need an HVAC engineer for occasional contract work as our projects scale. Clean, efficient HVAC design for straightforward residential buildings.

The Work

Scope per project:

  • Heat pump sizing and selection for individual units
  • HRV/ventilation system design (NBCC 9.32 compliance)
  • Basic ductwork layouts and sizing
  • Energy efficiency integration with our energy modeling team
  • Code compliance documentation

Typical turnaround: 5-7 business days per project

Volume: 1-3 HVAC packages annually (growing as we scale)

Project type: Simple Part 9 residential - standard heat pumps and ventilation, no complex commercial systems

Multi-discipline capability: If you can also handle electrical, structural, or plumbing engineering, we have significantly more contract work available. Our ideal scenario is working with fewer engineers who can cover multiple disciplines.
