Position Summary

Are you a detail-oriented financial professional looking to make a community impact? Do you want to use your accounting expertise to support non-profit initiatives and ensure responsible grant management? We're hiring a Part-Time Accountant to help oversee the financial integrity of a major community funding initiative.

We are seeking a
Part-Time Accountant
to support the financial operations of a multi-year grant allocation project. Working under the supervision of the Financial Officer, this role will assist with core accounting functions, financial reporting, budget tracking, and compliance activities.

The position also includes conducting short- and long-form financial compliance audits of funded community organizations (grantees) to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public and private funds.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Accountant in day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
  • Track and monitor grant allocations and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports for internal teams, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Aid in the development, monitoring, and forecasting of project budgets; recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Support grantees in understanding financial requirements and assist in the collection and review of grantee financial reports.
  • Conduct financial compliance audits (both short and detailed) of grantee organizations and issue follow-up reports or recommendations.
  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements.
  • Help maintain audit readiness and ensure documentation meets internal and external standards.
  • Collaborate with program staff and the Lead Accountant to align financial tracking with program outcomes.
  • Participate in other financial and administrative tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation or equivalent certification (or in progress) is an asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or grant-funded environment.
  • Experience with Sage Cloud accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with grant management and financial compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially when working with grantees or non-financial staff.
  • As an organization that provides services in English, this position requires excellent English writing and communication skills.

Nous recrutons un(e) Comptable à temps partiel pour soutenir l'intégrité financière d'un important programme de financement communautaire.

Nous recherchons un(e) Comptable à temps partiel pour appuyer les opérations financières d'un projet de subventions pluriannuel. Sous la supervision du responsable financier, ce poste comprend la gestion des fonctions comptables de base, la production de rapports financiers, le suivi budgétaire et les activités de conformité.

Le poste inclut également la réalisation d'audits de conformité financière courts et détaillés auprès des organismes communautaires financés (bénéficiaires de subventions) afin d'assurer la transparence et la responsabilité dans l'utilisation des fonds publics et privés.

Responsabilités principales

  • Assister le comptable de projet dans les opérations comptables quotidiennes, y compris les comptes à payer et à recevoir, les rapprochements et les écritures de grand livre.
  • Suivre et contrôler les allocations et dépenses des subventions pour assurer la conformité avec les lignes directrices de financement.
  • Soutenir la préparation des rapports financiers pour les équipes internes, les bailleurs de fonds et autres parties prenantes.
  • Aider au développement, au suivi et aux prévisions budgétaires du projet; recommander des ajustements
  • au besoin.
  • Soutenir les bénéficiaires de subventions dans la compréhension des exigences financières et aider à la collecte et à la révision de leurs rapports financiers.
  • Réaliser des audits de conformité financière (à court et long terme) des organismes bénéficiaires et produire des rapports de suivi ou des recommandations.
  • Effectuer la conciliation des relevés bancaires et des cartes de crédit mensuels.
  • Participer au maintien de la préparation aux audits et veiller à ce que la documentation respecte les normes internes et externes.
  • Collaborer avec le personnel de programme et le comptable principal pour aligner le suivi financier avec les résultats des programmes.
  • Participer à d'autres tâches financières et administratives au besoin.

Connaissances, compétences et qualifications

  • Baccalauréat en comptabilité, finance ou domaine connexe.
  • Minimum de 3 à 5 ans d'expérience en comptabilité, de préférence dans un environnement à but non lucratif ou financé par subvention.
  • Expérience avec le logiciel Sage Cloud et compétences avancées en Excel.
  • Connaissance des exigences en matière de gestion de subventions et de conformité financière.
  • Grand souci du détail et excellentes compétences analytiques et organisationnelles.
  • Capacité à travailler de manière autonome et en équipe.
  • Solides compétences interpersonnelles et en communication, particulièrement lors du travail avec des bénéficiaires ou du personnel non financier.
  • En tant qu'organisation qui offre des services en anglais, ce poste exige d'excellentes compétences en rédaction et en communication dans cette langue.
