Opportunity
Ashworth Square Co-operative is seeking a full-time, permanent Assistant Property
Manager to oversee the management and operations of our 152-unit housing
co-operative in Mississauga, Ontario.
Reporting to the co-op's Property Manager, the Assistant Property Manager will play
an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the co-op, with a focus on
member engagement and leadership development, democratic governance and
special initiatives.
Reporting to the Co-operative's elected Board of Directors, the Assistant Property
Manager will provide leadership in maintaining efficient operations, supporting
democratic governance, and fostering a vibrant, inclusive co-operative community.

Founded in 1971, Ashworth Square Co-operative is home to 80 high-rise apartments
and 72 stacked townhouses for families. We are committed to the co-operative

Key Responsibilities
• Apply and promote Co-operative Housing principles within the community
• Support the day-to-day operations, financial management, and maintenance
• Supervise maintenance contractors, ensuring quality workmanship and member
satisfaction
• Support and develop office and maintenance staff, fostering teamwork and
accountability
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and committees to ensure effective
governance and member engagement
• Assist with managing budgets, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with
financial, legal, and safety regulations
• Supports efforts to obtain funding by assisting in the preparation of subsidy grants
and project proposals.
• Assists in coordinating meetings with members, taking minutes of meetings and
following up on matters.
• Assists committees in the appropriate expenditure of funds by providing
administration and supervision.
• Engage the community to participate via notices, emails, phone calls and visits.
• Delivery and planning of programs by providing advisory assistance, services
planning, and program administration.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for members and staff
• Utilize property management software (NewViews), Microsoft Office, and Google
Workspace effectively
• Network with stakeholders such as the Region of Peel, Co-operative Housing
Federation of Canada (CHF Canada), and other housing co-operatives
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to attend Board Meetings,
Committee and Member meetings.
Qualifications and Key Competencies
• Proven experience in non-profit or co-operative housing management
• Foster and engage in collaborative, professional, and cooperative working
relationships with all members of the co-op
• Ability to work within a diverse community (including working with seniors, youth,
people with different abilities and different cultural and socio-economic
backgrounds)
• Well organized and able to manage multi-phase engagement projects
• Strong financial literacy and understanding of non-profit funding models
• Experience in staff supervision, recruitment, and performance management
• Knowledge of Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) programs and co-op by-laws is an asset
• Understanding of relevant legislation and codes (Fire, Building, OHSA)
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong conflict resolution and community-building abilities
• Tech-savvy and able to learn new systems quickly
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment
