Clinical Faculty

As the university's clinical community behavioural health and interprofessional practice training program, Adler Community Health Services provides free, in-person and telehealth, trauma-informed, prevention and intervention services within multiple, distinct organizations located in and servicing residents of Vancouver and Chicago's underserved neighbourhoods.
The Clinical Faculty has four (4) core responsibilities: curriculum and teaching, clinical supervision and professional mentorship of student-trainees, partner site management, and as needed direct clinical service provision. Under the direction of the Director of Training, Clinical Faculty perform these responsibilities in the community, on campus, and remotely as accreditation, university policy, British Columbia law, and professional regulations and ethics allow.
Education/Experience:
- Confirmed master's degree in counselling, counselling psychology, art therapy, or comparable field required.
- Minimum of (2) years documented experience providing clinical supervision.
- Written and verbal fluency in English is required and fluency in an additional language is a plus.
- Substance use prevention and/or treatment experience a plus.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid registration as a Clinical Counsellor and/or Art Therapist in British Columbia in good standing required.

Supervision (if applicable): Clinical responsibility for master-level trainees as assigned by Director of Training. Supplemental clinical consultation with doctoral practicum students, interns, and postdoctoral residents as requested by peers and/or assigned by Director of Training.
Work hours/Location: The hours for this position coincide with the trainees' hours, which may include evening hours, Monday through Friday, may vary. 60% or more of the work is performed at ACHS contracted community site partners.
Travel: Travel time of 15%; Travel to clinical sites is required locally within the Vancouver metro area. Clinical Faculty may be required to travel out of province per year or to the United States for professional development purposes or ACHS-related work.
Salary Expectations: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 CAD
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Teaching (30%)
- Provides didactics and seminars to trainees as assigned by Director of Training
- In collaboration with the full clinical team, meets regularly to evaluate and provide recommendations for training programs and clinical services improvement.
- Assists the Director of Training in evaluation and reporting requirements for accreditation and internal and external information requests.
Clinical Supervision and Professional Mentorship of Student-Trainees (30%)
- Provides clinical direction for care delivered by their assigned trainees.
- Provides group and individual supervision to trainees as assigned by Director of Training
- Provides consultation, mentorship, and direct feedback of trainee professionalism competencies.
- Evaluates and enhances trainee performance through written and verbal performance evaluations, and when needed, remediation plans.
- Reviews and approves trainees' clinical documentation.
- Tracks and approves data, such as trainees' hours and treatment outcomes.
- Participates in the review, selection, onboarding, and offboarding of trainees
Partner Site Management (20%)
- Works in partnership with site staff to coordinate all services delivered by ACHS trainees.
- Attends interprofessional team meetings and meets regularly with the partner site point of contact.
- Coordinates and assigns referrals, patient care, and aftercare services.
- Coordinates emergency services when required.
Direct Clinical Service Provision (10%)
- Provides direct clinical services when needed.
- Provides direct emergency clinical interventions when needed.
Other Duties as Assigned by the Director of Training (10%
Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
