Kitchen Operations Training Specialist

Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the regional Kitchen Operations Specialist, the Kitchen Operations Training Specialist is responsible for making all arrangements for the trainees of the assigned region, such as scheduling, training, preparing training related documents, replying enquiries …etc. The position is also responsible for updating training materials, plans the training program and delivers other duties such as attending commercial meetings, participate in projects, channel feedbacks and liaise with other internal and external parties.
Major Responsibilities: Arrangement for Trainees
- Responsible for making all arrangements for the trainees which include planning for their work schedule, provide them training according to the training schedule, preparing and correcting trainee's reports, assignments and assessments, replying their enquiries and concerns, selecting practice store for the trainees…etc.
- Assist new trainees to adapt in T&T Supermarket's culture and working environment and blend in with the Kitchen Deli Department
- Ensure the trainees (including Supervisor, Assistant Department Head & Department Head) obtain the required knowledge and skills according to the given timeline
- Apply professional experience, training resources, and justifiable evaluation criteria on trainees, proactively provide positive and corrective feedback to trainees on a timely manner and assist them to learn better
- Offer new general staff training during new store opening
Training Materials and Training Plan
- Create, prepare and update training materials and training cards promptly and professionally to sustain supermarket knowledge transfer
- Attend commercial meetings and document revised and improved processes and procedures in the training materials on a timely manner
- Use of training materials to train the newly hired general staff, ensure they are able to deliver the required work standards within the required timeframe
- Monitor general staff's work performance and adherence to standard operating procedures regularly
Others
- Support Kitchen Deli Operations Specialists in other Kitchen Deli operations related duties as required
- Assist Kitchen Dlei Operations Specialists in identify employees with potential for job expansion or higher level of duties
- Deliver feedbacks from the stores to the relevant parties at the Store Support Centre on matters such as workflow, layout or design that would improve operational efficiency, trainee's comments……etc.
- Strengthen operations training in terms of its efficiency, effectiveness and contents by exploring and liaising with external parties and bring in new ideas to the Training Centre
Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Completed at least high school and above education
- Must have at least 3 years' experience in operating a fast-paced retail environment of which at least 1 year of the experience as a Department Head
- Patient with experience in training and coaching others
- Possess good understanding of the operations in both the production and service sections of the Kitchen Deli Department
- Strong customer focus and a commitment to execute and enforce SOPs and to ensure standard compliance
- Ability to treat people with respect using good inter-personal and communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate by example through lifting of more than 40lbs and working in cold and wet environment
- Knowledge in workplace health and safety requirements is an asset
- Must have at least intermediate level of computer skills in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
