JOB TITLE: Fleet Manager / Dispatch - Long Haul Trucking - Permanent - Full Time

Position is at our Kelowna location.

Job Description:

Nehring Transport is looking for a permanent Fleet Manager / Dispatch to fill a full-time position starting as soon as possible.

This is a permanent, full time position Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm (on call during the evenings and weekends for driver emergencies). Benefits package offered after three month probation period is complete. Position will be open until a suitable candidate is hired.

Able to work independently with little supervision the Fleet Manager / Dispatch will be managing a growing fleet of long haul truck drivers, scheduling/dispatching loads and looking after truck maintenance. Wage dependent on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor driver movements and activities, provide support as required.

  • Schedule and communicate the most efficient routes to drivers, work with drivers to maintain route integrity.

  • Act as a liaison between drivers, customers, and other departments. Ensure that all parties are informed about delivery statuses, changes, and any issues that arise.

  • Proactively review changing weather/road conditions and direct drivers on best routes to take to minimize disruptions as conditions change.

  • Working with Logistics Coordinator to book loads with current and new customers.

  • Scheduling maintenance, CVI's and service intervals.

  • Maintaining existing clients and building relationships with new clients.

  • Responsible for Cross Boarder paperwork (Boarder Connect), DTOPS, Permits (Canada & USA), W2GO App & Transponders, Insurance Documents (increase and decrease when needed)

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience in long haul trucking is mandatory.

  • Comprehensive understanding of trucking industry throughout Canada and US: familiarity with US and Canadian Hours of Service rules, National Safety Code, Safety and Compliance factors and Weight and Dimension regulations across Canada and the US.

  • Able to multi task.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Familiarity with dispatch software, GPS systems, and other technological tools used in logistics and transportation is a must.

  • Composure under pressure and ability to make quick, logical decisions.

  • Strong organizational skills: time management, project planning, the ability to perform sales.

  • Valid driver's license.
