Job Description:

The Corporate Controller provides strategic leadership, direction, and coordination of all corporate financial management activities. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, implementing effective internal controls, and overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with Canadian GAAP and federal regulatory standards. The Corporate Controller partners closely with the CFO and senior management to drive financial performance, optimize operational efficiency, and support long-term strategic growth.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Oversight

  • Lead the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across all corporate entities.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes; monitor and report on variances against targets.
  • Develop and recommend financial benchmarks, KPIs, and performance metrics for each division and subsidiary.
  • Support strategic decision-making through detailed financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure audit readiness and effective resolution of findings.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal control frameworks across accounting, payroll, and inventory systems.
  • Collaborate with IT to align ERP and financial systems with internal control objectives and data accuracy standards.
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external compliance obligations (CRA, ESDC, WCB, and aviation-specific reporting).
  • Evaluate and strengthen processes for safeguarding company assets and mitigating financial risks.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Oversee and prepare multi-entity cash flow forecasts, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations and capital initiatives.
  • Optimize cash management, credit facilities, and banking relationships across all companies.
  • Support the CFO in investment decisions, contract negotiations, and capital allocation planning.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members across all business units.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
  • Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance, operational insight, and data-driven recommendations.
  • Act as the primary financial liaison between subsidiaries, corporate leadership, and external stakeholders.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive ERP optimization and automation initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Streamline cross-company financial workflows, ensuring alignment of policies, coding structures, and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce manual processes and enhance financial transparency.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic planning, policy development, and special projects at the executive level.
  • Provide oversight for annual audits, tax filings, and external reporting obligations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the CFO or executive leadership.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • CPA designation required (CA, CMA, or CGA).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or Master's degree an asset).
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or corporate controller capacity.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP, consolidations, and multi-entity reporting.
  • Proven experience in ERP systems implementation and financial systems integration.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Aviation or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
