Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator for Doors & Hardware. This position plays a key role in preparing accurate and competitive bids for supply and installation projects involving doors, frames, and architectural hardware.

Duties

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and proposals for Division 8 projects (doors, frames, and hardware).

  • Review project documentation (drawings, specifications, tender documents, and site instructions).

  • Perform quantity take-offs for doors, hardware, and accessories.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers (Bobrick, ASI, Allegion, Assa Abloy, etc.) to obtain pricing and product data.

  • Prepare competitive quotes and participate in tender submissions.

  • Maintain and update pricing databases, Excel templates, and historical cost data.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Sales to ensure timely and accurate proposals.

  • Prepare change orders and additional pricing upon client request.

  • Analyze bid results and continuously improve estimating accuracy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Estimator in Division 8 (doors, hardware, frame systems) or related field.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Solid understanding of door systems: hollow metal, wood doors, hardware sets, frames, glazing.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, templates).

  • Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar take-off software.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong attention to detail, responsibility, and communication skills.

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) for business correspondence and technical documentation.

Assets (Preferred)

  • Experience working with suppliers or installers under Divisions 8 and 10.

  • Familiarity with manufacturers such as Bobrick, ASI, Allegion, Assa Abloy, Ceco, Curries, and Steelcraft.

  • Technical education in construction technology, engineering, or architecture.
