Role Description:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Sr. Heavy Equipment Technician located in Oakville, ON. This role requires the ability to work effectively, communicate effectively and the drive to learn on the go. This Mechanic will play a critical role in maintaining efficient operations and supporting our team.

Previous Truck, Heavy Equipment and/or forklift experience is a requirement.

We are seeking a qualified and safety-driven Heavy Duty Mechanic (Forklift Specialist) to assist in building, maintaining, and diagnosing/repairing a range of Heavy Forklift Trucks and High Capacity Lifting Equipment. This position ensures compliance with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and relevant CSA standards.

Requirements:

  • Technical training and certification in Heavy Duty Mechanic (310T) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and documentation ability.
  • Ability to read, understand and contribute to drawings with Engineer.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic functions.
  • Solid and demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and technologies related to mechanics.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to get to our location.

Duties:

  • Read, Comprehend and understand Engineering drawings.
  • Build, perform preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of counterbalance and reach trucks.
  • Inspect and certify forklifts and material handling equipment in accordance with associated safety standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Document maintenance work in compliance with OHSA and company maintenance protocols.
  • Report and correct equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Use PPE consistently and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
